of habitats. Various factors including variations in climate
such as temperature and rainfall affect the distribution of
wildlife directly and indirectly. Human encroachment also plays
an important role.
South Africa has seven major vegetation biomes. They are
Desert, Savanna, Grassland, Succulent Karoo, Nama-Karoo,
Forest and Fynbos.

of wildlife and nature areas, ranging from snow-clad mountains
to subtropical coastal regions. These areas include National
Parks, marine reserves, wilderness areas as well as private
