Tuningi Safari Lodge is an elegant, five star lodge in Madikwe Game Reserve, set in a tranquil valley. What makes this beautiful area in the North West Province even more attractive, is the fact that it is malaria-free and is approximately three and a half hours drive from Johannesburg and a mere hour's flight. Tuningi accommodates 16 people in elegant free standing rooms that all have enormous bathrooms, outside showers, fireplaces and fabulous wooden decks. The rooms are set apart from each other to provide ultimate privacy and peace. The family units consist of two double bedrooms with an adjoining living and dining area. The entire lodge has a Colonial African feel and is stylish and comfortable. Accommodation at Tuningi consist of 8 luxury Suites (4 stand-alone & 2 family units) "Little Tuningi" is a part of the main lodge but can be booked as stand-alone accommodation. It has a double room and a family unit as well as a private pool and boma (for outdoor meals around the fire). "Little Tuningi" accommodates only 6 (six) guests in unsurpassed luxury with a designer kitchen, boma area, dining room, lounge, wrap around wooden deck and private pool. Purposely designed, "Little Tuningi" is completely self-contained for those guests that are in search of ultimate privacy. Guests do of course have access to the Main Lodge area and its facilities. All rooms at Tuningi and 'Little Tuningi" have air conditioning, ceiling fans, gas fireplaces, en-suite bathrooms, beautifully appointed baths, outdoor rock showers and private wrap around wooden decks. The design brief was to create space by blending interiors with the bush through utilising retractable doors and windows wherever possible. ABOUT TUNINGI SAFARI LODGEThe 5 star Tuningi Safari Lodge set in a valley on the western side of the Madikwe Game Reserve. The theme of the interiors is "Colonial African Chic" and the main thatched lodge offers beautiful indoor and outdoor lounges, an elegant dining room and a magnificent rim flow pool that overlooks a waterhole frequently visited by elephant families and other game. This is all interlinked by a sweeping wooden deck that leads to a boma under an ancient fig tree. Tuningi is one of the very few lodges in South Africa that welcomes children and by doing so avails them to the wonders of nature, wildlife and our delicate eco-system. Tuningi Safari Lodge's main reception area includes indoor and outdoor lounges, a dining room, and wrap around viewing deck with a rim-flow pool. The main entertainment and reception area of the lodge overlooks a waterhole that provides fantastic game viewing from the safety of an expansive wooden deck. The rim flow pool and gorgeous lounges give the lodge a sumptuous and welcoming feel. CHILDREN Kids Programme ACTIVITIESThere are morning and afternoon / evening game-drives in open game-viewing vehicles, accompanied by with informed and professional game rangers. Regrettably, due to safety concerns, children under 6 years of age are unable to participate in game-drives. WILDLIFE, BIRDLIFE & NATUREMadikwe Game Reserve is one of South Africa's prime safari destinations. The rich diversity of vegetation ensures a wide range of game and the topography offers ideal game viewing opportunities. Madikwe is home to 66 mammal species including the Big Five and more than 300 resident and migrant bird species. Tuningi Safari Lodge is easily accessible by Private Charter or the daily Madikwe Shuttle into the Madikwe Western Airstrip just 30 minutes from Tuningi through the reserve.
