Wildlife South Africa presents a compilation of South African traditional and contemporary recipes.

We will mainly feature recipes and cooking for the outdoors and around campfires in South Africa, however many of the recipes can also be prepared indoors.

Besides our own recipes we aim to gather recipes from friends, family and other sources. We will also feature dishes and recipes of different cultural groups, as well as recipes from different regions in South Africa. Some of the recipes are very old and have been handed down from generation to generation. We aim to obtain them, dust them off and display them here for you to try out.

Food, good cooking, a glass of wine and a campfire cement friendships, especially when combined with the scenic settings of our beautiful country. The sizzling of a thick and juicy rump steak or the aroma of a good hearty meal cooking on an open fire, grabs the senses.

These recipes are food for thought and once you have the knack, can be prepared quite simply and with the minimum of hassle.

Lastly, remember that these recipes are merely guidelines and are intended to spur you on to experiment and add to, or adapt the recipes to your taste.
