ABOUT OPUWO COUNTRY HOTEL

Opuwo Country Hotel is situated on a hilltop, with a breathtaking 360° view, also overlooking a valley with magnificent sunsets.

The impressive thatched main building houses the curio shop, restaurant, bar and well stocked wine cellar with quality wines for the connoisseur.

Opuwo is the gateway to the Kaokoveld region in the north-western part of Namibia. The remote area south of the Kunene River is the home of the Ovahimba people, who have kept their ethnic individuality and culture in the seclusion of Kaokoland.

It is an ideal base from where to explore the culture and tradition rich lifestyle of the nomadic Ovahimba people and within easy reach of points of interests such as Ruacana and Epupa falls, Kaoko Otavi, and Swartboois drift.

Road conditions are excellent between Kamanjab and Opuwo (tarmac). The last 85km to Ruacana is excellent gravel road.

Guided

• Himba excursion – 3 hour guided excursion to traditional Ovahimba villages to experience their culture and traditions
• Epupa Falls excursion – This is a full day excursion with picnic lunch on the banks of the Kunene river
• Our guides also acts as translators

Self drive

• Ruacana falls, Kunene River
• Kaokoland – Kaokoveld
• Self drive to the Uukwaluudhi reserve in your own 4x4 vehicle and do a 3 hour game drive with the possibility of seeing Black Rhino, Hyena, Black-faced Impala and a variety of antelope species and prolific bird life.
