LOCATION
"On The Rocks" fly fishing venue is situated
in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa.
It is in Zwavelpoort, east of Pretoria, in the beautiful
Bronberg range.
ACTIVITIES
- Fly fishing for trout.
- Day visitors only.

RATES
- Weekends & Public Holidays - R120 per day per
person fishing
- During the week - R70 per day per person fishing.
- Rods for hire - R100 per rod - a catching net is
included
- Flies can be bought from us
- We prefer "catch and release" however,
Rainbow and Brown Trout caught and taken will be charged
at - R80 per kilogram.
- No Golden Trout may be taken - it has to be released.
- Non-fishing visitors - R30 per day.
- Children under 7 - no charge.
- Discounted Rates for groups.
ABOUT "ON THE ROCKS" FLY FISHING
- "On the Rocks" is situated approximately
15 kilometers from the Lynnwood Road / Hans Strijdom
Drive intersection, with easy access to the dam.
- The dam is about 1.3 hectares in surface size and
varies in depth.
- The Zwavelspruit feeds the dam and some trout can
be caught in the stream.
- The dam is stocked a few times per year starting
in early April.
- It is stocked with Rainbow, Brown and Golden Trout
and the sizes vary from about 400 grams upwards.
- The dam is a haven for bird life.
- At the dam there are picnic sites available with
"braai" facilities and toilets.
- Nearby, about 4 kilometers away, is the Bafana Cash
Store for those last minute items which one may have
forgotten, such as charcoal or refreshments.
ACOMMODATION
We have accommodation available in the form of a garden
cottage, which sleeps a maximum of 4 people and is a
furnished self catering unit, with kitchenette, shower
and toilet.

DIRECTIONS
Travel out of Pretoria to the east via Lynnwood Road
until you reach the intersection with Hans Strijdom
Drive.
From there, continue with Lynnwood Road for about 6
kilometers.
Turn right at the Zwavelpoort Road.
Carry on until the tar ends and changes into a dirt
road.
Carry straight on for about 300 meters. You will find
"On the Rocks" (Plot 128) on your right.
Drive in and follow the signs to the dam.
NOTE
- Only fly fishing is allowed.
- Fishing times are from dawn to dusk or from 6 to
6.
- The Golden Trout are for catch and release only
and may not be taken.
- To avoid disappointment it is essential to book,
especially to secure a "braai" spot.
