ABOUT NDZHAKA CAMP & MANYALETI GAME RESERVE

Ndzhaka is situated in the 23 000 ha provincial game reserve of Manyeleti and shares unfenced boundaries with both Kruger National Park through Orpen Gate and Sabi Sands Private Nature Reserve.

The Camp is located in a thickly wooded area within walking distance of the reserve's largest dam. Its proximity to the dam results in plenty of animal activity around the camp as they move to and from the water to drink. Big game is often sighted in the thick bush surrounding camp.

Manyeleti, which means 'place of stars', is indeed an appropriate name for this park, which most visitors come to agree with.

Ndzhaka, which means, "treasure", presents game viewing in Lowveld Savannah comparable to the best to be found anywhere. It offers the visitor a true African experience close to nature, including experiencing the thrill of being in close proximity to the Big Five.

THINGS TO DO

Self-drive in Manyeleti is confined to a skeleton road network, however game drives with the African Ivory Route Field Guides will ensure an intimate, trouble free and rewarding experience.

The area is reknowned for its lion, leopard and white rhino, while elephant are in abundance and large herds of buffalo are common.

  • Game drives in the open vehicles around the reserve ensure excellent game viewing
  • Night drives expose the nocturnal activities of the bush as interpreted and explained by the qualified guides
  • A visit to the large dam in the central area of Manyaleti, in search of the ever-present herds of Elephant and Buffalo, is highly recommended
  • Birding is excellent in the area
  • For those that just want to relax in camp, you can soak up the sounds and smells of the bush over a cup of coffee or a good book
  • Whether you're at the main lapa or on the deck of your tent, you will often be able to watch game moving around in the nearby bush
  • For the more adventurous, the guided game walks are not to be missed. It is out on foot under the watchful eyes of trained guides that the adrenaline really starts to rush. Guided game walks provide plenty of exciting moments tracing the spoor of the dangerous Big Five

ABOUT THE AFRICAN IVORY ROUTE

The African Ivory Route in the Limpopo Province has its origins in the legendary exploits of early ivory hunters and gold traders.

Thus the African Ivory Route was established with the adventure traveller in mind. A selection of unique and off the beaten track destinations were therefore a more important consideration than ease of access.
