LOCATION
Monate Game Lodge is an oasis of peace and tranquillity set in a private
game reserve situated on the divide of the Waterberg and Springbok flats
near Nylstroom (Modimolle) in Limpopo Province, South Africa.
Travelling time is ideal for a weekend getaway or as a conference destination. It
is a two hour drive from OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg)
and approximately one and a half hours from Pretoria.
ABOUT MONATE GAME LODGE
Monate is set in a private Game Reserve, home to Leopard, Cheetah, Buffalo, Hippo, Rhino, Brown Hyena, Crocodile, Caracal and Jackal as well as a large variety of antelope such as Giraffe, Kudu, Eland, Waterbuck and Nyala.
Being close to the Nylsvley Nature Conservancy, a birding paradise,
home to 46% of the bird species in Southern Africa, birding is prolific
on the reserve with many new sightings reported.
Set amidst an elegant garden, the stunning Monate suites and rooms offer an opportunity to indulge in time spent in a peaceful and relaxing environment.
Comfort cuisine is offered in true African style using locally sourced
ingredients and venison and vegetarian dishes are just some of our specialities.

Hampton Lodge & Rushton Lodge
Ideal for Executives and Honeymooners are the five star Hampton and Rushton Tented Lodges, decorated with a sophisticated blend of both Chinese and Colonial antiques, oozing complete luxury in an environment where pampering and attention to detail is absolute.
Situated on a small koppie overlooking the bush, these exclusive and luxurious destinations maintain a high level of privacy combined with intimate service, suited to those who enjoy being spoiled.
These 2 five star lodges are appointed in a colonial
fashion, each with their elegant lounge and dining
room with open access to a private sun deck and pool.
The extensive bathrooms with roll-top bath extend to
an outdoor shower, overlooking a waterhole.

DINING
At Monate the dining experience is designed to tantalize
your taste buds. We offer true African Cuisine, with
Venison and Vegetarian dishes as some of our specialities.
To compliment our fine fare, meals are served in different settings such as the bush, in a cave, around the campfire, at a viewpoint and afternoon tea in the garden.
LODGE ACTIVITIES
While we offer game drives and walks, birding and viewing a large variety of African game, Monate is distinguished by a wide range of activities that our guests are free to enjoy at the lodge.
Release some energy with clay pigeon shooting, or playing a game of volleyball,
jukskei or swingball. You may choose to join a daily drive, walk in the bush
or viewing rock art in some of the caves. Perhaps you would prefer to enjoy
a lazy day lounging next to one of the two swimming pools, relax at a viewpoint
or simply enjoy the vista.
HORSEBACK SAFARIS
Our horseback safaris provide a unique opportunity to
experience a variety of game species, vegetation, thick
woodlands and rocky outcrops.
The horses at Monate are accustomed to game and suitable to ensure experienced and inexperienced riders an exciting and unforgettable excursion.
WILDLIFE
Monate is home to a variety of wildlife species and amongst the many animal species that occur here are: Aardvark, African Wildcat, Brown Hyena, Civet, Cheetah, Chacma Baboon, Blue Wildebeest, Burchells Zebra, Bush Pig, Bushbuck, Buffalo, Eland, Giraffe, Gemsbok, Hippopotamus, Honey Badger, Impala, Kudu, Klipspringer, Lesser Bush Baby, Nyala, Ostrich, Porcupine, Red Hartebeest, Steenbok, Vervet Monkey, Warthog, Waterbuck, Leopard and White Rhinoceros.
CHEETAH PROGRAM
Monate Private Game Lodge has been privileged to be allocated the Cheetah program in association with De Wildt Cheetah and Wildlife Trust as well as the Mazda Wildlife Fund.
This is a prestigious project designed to rehabilitate orphaned Cheetahs back into the wild and Monate was chosen over many reserves to run the pilot project. It has been a highlight and privilege for guests to witness the progress and recently the gates were opened for them to roam free.
Ongoing monitoring will record their progress, giving valuable statistics
for future programs.
