KRUGER NATIONAL PARK – 4 X 4 TRAILS


LEBOMBO ECO TRAIL (4 X 4 VEHICLES ONLY)

Duration: 4 nights / 5 days
Own vehicles must be used and own food, groceries, utensils and all other necessary equipment should be brought along. Only 5 vehicles with a maximum of 4 persons per vehicle are allowed per reservation. Trail rangers will accompany the group in their own vehicle.

This 4x4 trail is open annually from April to October.

The trail starts at Crocodile Bridge and ending at Pafuri traveling along the Lebombo Mountains, on the eastern border of the Kruger National Park. This is a very popular trail and reservations must be done far ahead of time as it is difficult to get a reservation on short notice.

4 X 4 DAY TRAILS (ADVENTURE TRAILS)

Day trails for the adventurous vehicle driver in their own 4x4 off-road vehicles. These trails are excellent for birding and game viewing is also very good. It must be kept in mind that these trails have a restricted number of visitors per day. The trails are very popular and thus sometimes difficult to reserve.

Note! The Adventure Trails are weather sensitive and can only be booked at the Kruger National Park at the respective camps nearest to the trail as specified.

Madlabantu Adventure Trail in the southern region near Pretoriuskop (42 km)

These trails are an experience on its own and can take anything from a few hours to nearly a day, depending how slowly or how fast it is traveled. As these trails have a restricted number of vehicles per day, as well as being away from the normal tourist roads, it has the feeling of being on your own in the bush. Many unique sightings of birds and wildlife have been reported on these routes.

MALOPENI OVERNIGHT ECO-TRAIL

Malopeni Overnight Eco-Trail is a one night guided adventure trail along the management roads in the north-east of Phalaborwa Gate up to the Letaba River. This trail will depart on daily basis from Phalaborwa Gate throughout the year; however during heavy rains or other urgent management related issues, the route may be changed or even be closed temporarily. Only five vehicles plus the guide vehicle are allowed per trail, with a maximum of four people per vehicle.
