LOCATION
Izintaba Lodge in Izintaba Private Game Reserve, Waterberg.
This Private Game Reserve is in the Limpopo province and is
malaria free. Izintaba Lodge offers self-catering accommodation
in Izintaba Private Game Reserve. The accommodation is in
six luxury, fully equipped self-catering cottages. It is just
290km’s north of OR Tambo International airport, outside
of Vaalwater in the Waterberg Biosphere.

ACCOMMODATION
The thatched lodges are luxuriously furnished, very comfortable
and overlook typical Waterberg bushveld. At the end of the
day guests can relax on their patio and anticipate the magnificent
sunset; make a wood fire in their private lapa, watch the
incredible night sky and savour the heady scents and wild
night sounds of the bushveld.
The kitchens in all the cottages are fully equipped for
self-catering and include:
- Crockery, utensils, a 4-plate electric or gas stove with
oven, a 2-plate gas cooker, microwave, kettle and fridge/
freezer
- Dishwashing liquid and dishcloths are provided
- All bed linen, bath towels and soaps are provided in all
cottages.
- All the cottages have fireplaces in the lounge, except
Izintaba Lodge where gas heaters are provided.
Please bring your own swimming towels.
Bushbuck & Zebra Cottage (4 - 6 Sleeper)
Bushbuck and Zebra Cottage are two thatched rondavels, which
are luxuriously furnished, very comfortable and overlook typical
Waterberg bushveld.
- Each cottage sleeps 4 in 2 en-suite bedrooms, one double
and one twin
- Zebra Cottage has a loft, which can sleep an additional
2 people, ideally suited to children who are able to climb
the steep ladder

Giraffe Cottage (10 Sleeper)
Originally built as a home, Giraffe cottage has been converted
into a spacious lodge with an open plan dining room, lounge
and large kitchen that makes big family or friend get togethers
comfortable and hassle free.
- Sleeps 10 people comfortably in three large bedrooms,
one king, one double and one twin, with four single beds
in a spacious loft room, ideally suited for children
- Two full bathrooms, both with a shower and a bath

Kudu Cottage (8 Sleeper)
Secluded on its own overlooking a rocky ridge, Kudu Cottage
is a larger double story thatched cottage ideally suited for
families and friends who want to enjoy the bush in privacy.

with a shower and a bath

Duiker Cottage (4 Sleeper)
Duiker Cottage will appeal to those guests who really want
to experience the peace and tranquillity of being alone in
the bush. Situated on a small rocky ridge, Duiker Cottage
offers spectacular views of the surrounding bush and mountains
from both the covered stoep and the open plan lounge, kitchen
and dining room.

- One full bathroom with a bath and a shower
- Open-plan lounge, dining room and kitchen with granite
counter tops
- Large covered stoep with built in braai
Izintaba Lodge (10 - 12 Sleeper)
This exceptional bush home offers guests all the luxuries
and comforts of a traditional bush lodge, with the flexibility
to enjoy your holiday at your own pace. Perfectly suited for
large groups, friends or family, this lodge offers a catering
sized kitchen, a private swimming pool, a bar with pool table
and dartboard and plenty of space in both the bedrooms and
living areas.
- Sleeps 10 - 12 in five bedrooms, three luxurious en-suites,
two with king size beds and one twin, and two large bedrooms,
both twin, that share an interleading bathroom
- Arrangements are flexible to suit each parties needs and
extra beds are available for extra children
- Large fully equipped kitchen with double door fridge/
freezer to accommodate large groups, two stoves with ovens,

ABOUT IZINTABA PRIVATE GAME RESERVE
- Mountain Biking
- Game Viewing- Guided game drives on open vehicles or –
explore the reserve in your own car - most roads suitable
for sedan vehicles, only a few require a 4 x 4
- Walking - because we do not have any dangerous game, the
best way to take it all in and enjoy the beautiful scenery
is on foot
- Birding - over 200 bird species recorded in the area.

WILDLIFE, BIRDLIFE & NATURE
There are more than 40 mammal species, including giraffe,
zebra, kudu, eland, waterbuck, blue wildebeest, gemsbok, bushbuck,
blesbuck, mountain reedbuck, red hartebeest, klipspringer,
duiker, steenbok, impala, bush pig and warthog. Predators
such as leopard, brown hyaena, genet, civet, black-backed
jackal, caracal, and African wildcat are occasionally sighted.
The elusive aardvark, pangolin and honey badger also occur
in the area. A pack of free roaming wild dogs have been sighted,
very briefly, on a few occasions on the farm.
The Waterberg boasts over 200 bird species. These include
raptors such as snake eagles, buzzards and secretary birds
as well as numerous different kingfishers, hornbills and sunbirds.
Izintaba is also home to a breeding pair of Denhams Bustards.
Innumerable species of insects and reptiles occur, including
the endemic Giant plated lizard.
Izintaba offers a wide range of habitats and scenery. A perennial
stream, which feeds a dam and provides an interesting wetland
that attracts a variety of water birds, wide open savannah
plains where game is easily viewed, dense bush and rocky outcrops.
On the north-eastern side of the property a densely vegetated
horseshoe ridge looks out on an endless vista of mountains
and valleys with no sign of civilization. It is down this
ridge that a number of rocky ledges and beautiful seasonal
waterfalls can be found.
