WELGEVONDEN PRIVATE GAME RESERVE

Welgevonden Private Game Reserve situated in the Waterberg Region of Limpopo Province, is one of the Top 10 Game Reserves in South Africa and is malaria free.

 

This vast wilderness area is also part of the Waterberg Biosphere and borders Marakele National Park. Welgevonden is set in Mountain Bushveld terrain with spectacular scenic views. Many springs, small streams and small rivers run through the area.

 

The birdlife is prolific and there is a wide range of mammal species. Besides the Big 5, more than 50 mammal species occur here and species like Brown Hyaena, Aardwolf and Aardvark or Ant bear can also be seen, although the chance to see it is mainly at night. An abundance of insects, reptiles, butterflies and many fish species can also be found at Welgevonden. The flora of the reserve is also truly special with some unique species occurring here.  

 

No private vehicles are allowed on the reserve and with a limited number of guests at any one time, Welgevonden is a secluded and exclusive wildlife experience. Due to this minimal impact on the reserve, the accommodation and exciting wildlife safaris offered by a number of luxury private safari & game lodges is truly special. It is about two and a half hours from Johannesburg.
