MKUZE FALLS PRIVATE GAME RESERVE

Mkuze Falls Private Game Reserve, home to the Big 5, is a hidden jewel situated in Northern KwaZulu-Natal, near Mkuze and about two hours from Richard’s Bay.

 

This reserve, in the heart of Zululand, has a wide variety of wildlife species due to the diverse ecosystems that include wetlands, riverine areas, grassland, and lowveld bushveld. Besides the Big 5 mammals, a range of plains game like Zebra, Kudu, Impala, Nyala, Bushbuck and others occur here. The endangered Cheetah also occur on the reserve.

 

Due to the climate, proximity to the coast and the diverse ecosystems there are also an abundance of bird species, hence the popularity of Mkuze Falls as a top birding destination. With more than 400 bird species recorded on the reserve it is a paradise for birders.

 

Accommodation is at Mkuze Falls Lodge which is well known for its luxury, friendly hospitality and five star safari experience. The lodge features eight luxuriously appointed thatched chalets and one Safari Suite, accommodating 18 guests in comfort and style. The chalets and the central lodge complex are built on raised wooden platforms and guests can enjoy spectacular views of the Mkuze Waterfall and breath-taking views of the perennial Mkuze River, bush and mountains.
