Fundudzi Camp is part of the African Ivory Route and situated in the Soutpansberg, Limpopo Province. Fundudzi Camp is located near Lake Fundudzi and the Thathe Vondo Forest in the mountains of Mukumbani, Tshivhase area, land of the Venda people.

ACCOMMODATION

Fundudzi Camp, built in the typical Vha-Venda style, offers basic and rustic self-catering accommodation in traditional, cultural huts or bungalows with communal ablution facilities.

A communal kitchen with basic facilities, including a gas stove, fridge, freezer, plates and mugs, chairs, tables and eating utensils are provided. Staff members will be on hand to assist visitors.

Note! Since bedding is only supplied at an additional charge, it may be advisable to bring your own bedding or sleeping bag.

Please note!
This is a rustic self-catering camp with basic accommodation and other basic facilities. There is no electricty. As such it is perhaps more suitable for those that love the outdoors and adventure. This camp is ideal for a single group that reserves the entire camp, as the cooking and kitchen amenities are communal and have to be shared by all visitors, often at the same times.

ABOUT FUNDUDZI CAMP

Fundudzi Camp is built in the typical Vha-Venda style, located at the heart of the land of myths and legends within the forested mountains of Mukumbani near the Holy Forest of Thathe Vondo, just a stone throw from the sacred Lake Fundudzi, known for its myths and legends.

It is situated in the Soutpansberg mountain forest on a terraced hillside within the Land of Legends in the Tshivhase area where the village vibe can be experienced, especially at night when the drums start beating and the Marimba starts playing.

Fundudzi Camp is an ideal base both for experiencing the enriching culture and traditions of the Vha-Venda people and for exploring the many natural attractions in the surrounding mountains, known for its myths and legends.

Cultural and natural phenomena are closely connected and the fascinating myths, legends and secrets of the Sacred Lake Fundudzi as well as the Holy Forest of Thathe Vondo are best narrated by the local tourist guides while visiting these places.

ABOUT THE AFRICAN IVORY ROUTE

The African Ivory Route in the Limpopo Province has its origins in the legendary exploits of early ivory hunters and gold traders.

Thus the African Ivory Route was established with the adventure traveller in mind. A selection of unique and off the beaten track destinations were therefore a more important consideration than ease of access.
