LOCATION
Cheerio Trout Fishing and Holiday Resort, self catering
accommodation, is situated in the mountains, forests
and streams of Magoebaskloof in the beautiful Cheerio
Valley, home of the annual Spring Azalea and Cherry
Blossom Fair.
We are situated halfway between Polokwane (Pietersburg)
and Tzaneen, in Limpopo Province, only three and a
half hours drive from Johannesburg on the N1 National
highway, which make a visit to us near enough for a
quick breakaway or holiday.
Cheerio is also an ideal stop over to the Kruger National
Park as it is only an hour and a half drive from the
Phalaborwa Entrance Gate and two hours from the Orpen
Entrance Gate. It is also close to many other private
game parks.
ABOUT CHEERIO TROUT FISHING & HOLIDAY RESORT
Cheerio Trout Fishing and Holiday Resort, self catering
accommodation, is surrounded by the impressive Wolkberg
- the southern tip of the Drakensberg Mountains and
pine and indigenous forests. It is close to the Broederstroom
and Letaba River as well as the Ebenezer, Magoebaskloof
and Dap Naude dams.
In this haven for nature lovers, fishermen, bird watchers,
hikers and adventure addicts. You can fish, walk through
scenic gardens or visit the nearby river.
We have three trout dams on the property and river
fishing can be arranged with the local angling association.
You can play tennis, table tennis, and darts or just
relax at the swimming pool.
For those who are keen on action and adventure, this
could be arranged for you.
You can also visit some of the local attractions as
well as tea gardens and craft shops and end an eventful
day on a sunset boat trip on the Ebenezer Dam.
If it's fresh mountain air and sparkling mountain
rivers you are looking for, to just relax or experience
adventure activities, with sunshine or silver mist,
unpolluted clear starry skies and evenings around a
crackling log fire, come to Cheerio. You'll want to
return often with family and friends to share your
enjoyment.
ACCOMMODATION
Our accommodation consists of:
Self catering chalets
2, 4 and 6 sleeper self-catering chalets, accommodating
from 2 to 8 persons are set in beautiful gardens. All chalets are fully equipped with all bedding, towels
and cooking utensils. All have fireplaces and DSTV.
Braai facilities are also available.
Rondavels (Bungalows)
There are 3 Rondavels (Bungalows) also set amidst
the gardens. Tariffs include bed and breakfast.

TROUT FISHING
Trout fishing is offered in three dams on the property
and at an owned property on the Letaba River – 20 minutes drive.
Fishing can also be arranged in the waters of the
local Trout Fishing Association.

ACTIVITIES
Activities include trout fishing, swimming pool, tennis,
birding, biking, hiking or just relaxing in front of
a crackling log fire.
For an adrenaline adventure - The Magoebaskloof
Canopy Tour nearby is a must.
For golf enthusiasts, the Tzaneen and Polokwane Country
Clubs are within an hours' drive.
For the adventurous there are the Wolkberg mountains
and national hiking trails.
Adventure activities such as quad biking, kloofing,
tubing, abseiling, team building and paintball are
available at our associate in the mountains close by.
Forest, riverside and garden walks can be undertaken
from the property and hiking, mountain bike, horse
and 4 x 4 trails are in close proximity.

BIRDS & BIRDING
Birding is especially good in the area and amongst
others include the following species:
Bat Hawk, Gymnogene, Redchested Flufftail, Cape Parrot,
Starred Robin, Longcrested Eagle, Forest Buzzard, Black
Cuckoo, Narina Trogon and Olive Woodpecker.
WILDLIFE & NATURE
Mammal species in the area include Samango Monkeys,
Bushbuck, Cape Clawless Otter, Duiker and other smaller
mammal species.
Prominent Tree species in the forests of the area
include Cape Chestnut, Real Yellowwood, Milkwood and
Stinkwood, amongst others.
