Morukuru River House is an exclusive luxury safari lodge suited to small groups of friends and family and offers a unique safari experience. This family friendly safari lodge is known for its superb accommodation, excellent service and friendly hospitality.

Morukuru River House accommodates 6 adults and 4 children in 3 luxurious double en suite bedrooms, each featuring every comfort. River House is booked on an exclusive use basis, inclusive of all meals, beverages and safari activities. To ensure the most ultimate safari experience, Morukuru River House will provide the services of a private butler, private chef, private game drive vehicle, private guide and much more.

The superbly appointed living area offers fine dining space for a complete party of ten, with cuisine prepared to taste and requirements by your personal chef. The fully equipped kitchen is available to guests at all times for snacks and drinks at leisure and of choice. 

 

On moonlit nights, dine around a crackling bonfire in the boma. Guests could also enjoy their breakfast in the morning sunshine, lunch in the shaded garden, or dinner by starlight and candles on the pool deck overlooking the Groot Marico River.

 

While the location is completely private, River House is within walking distance from Owner’s House, ideal should you wish to book both houses for a larger party that requires a combination of shared gatherings with maximum privacy.

 

 

The separate family room or study can comfortably accommodate 4 children on four bunk beds. Children have access to recreational facilities such as satellite TV, PlayStation, computer with internet and DVDs.

 

Morukuru ensures that outdoor activities for children are safe and supervised by skilled and experienced rangers at all times. Morukuru staff members are very family-orientated, and thoroughly enjoy interacting with and teaching children more about the African bush.

 

Children will receive a Morukuru Kidz Backpack filled with Safari treasures. The service of a Nanny are available for those parents that wish to have a little time to themselves allowing them to relax knowing their children are being cared for. 

 

 

Morukuru is dedicated to present guests with a memorable safari experience and all activities are geared around each guest’s specific needs.  

 

Teeming with wildlife, as well as more than 340 different bird species, the Morukuru game drive experience is the ultimate safari adventure.  Game drives are conducted by an experienced guide and tracker in a pristine wilderness area, home to the Big Five, Wild Dogs, 350 bird species and various animal species. Every game drive is equipped with a variety of snacks and drinks. As the only guests on the vehicle, game drives are tailored to your preferences.

 

The Morukuru hide is set next to the waters edge and protected by an electric fence. A sleepover at the hide is perfect for the daring to spend a night in the wild. For a romantic evening with a partner or for family members and friends a magical experience of being left alone in the a vast plain where the wildlife roam free, in perfect comfort, yet surrounded by the African wilderness is not to be missed. For those less daring an evening stop at the hide during game drive is a sublime spot to look up at the sparkling night sky and star gaze.

 

Bush walks are conducted in a wilderness area where predators roam free and guests will be accompanied by an experienced and fully armed game ranger and tracker.  

To be on the safe side, children under the age of 16 may not participate in bush walks and for those over the age of 60 a doctor’s certificate is require of good health. Alternatively a stroll through the fenced in area, home to general game can be enjoyed by the entire family.  Bush walks are limited to a maximum of eight people.

 

Madikwe is home to more than 350 species of birds, including many interesting raptors. Game drives are certainly enriched when guests show a keen interest and appreciation in the birdlife. On request staff can set up a romantic starlit sleepover at the Morukuru bird hide, providing you with an elevated vantage from which to view the dawn. 

 

Morukuru overlooks the Marico River, and many different species of fish are found, including Yellow fish, Catfish, Bream, Eel, Papermouth, Three Spot Tilapia and Carp.

 

Dance performances are presented by dancers of the nearby Molatedi Village.

 

Morukuru carefully selected Africology as the product line used throughout relaxing Spa Treatments. Africology uses only organic ingredients with their products, free from toxic chemicals, including dangerous preservatives. At a location of your choice within your personal villa, be it the sala overlooking the Marico River, the deck of your room or by the pool.

 

 

Morukuru River House is situated in the Madikwe Game Reserve, and located 360kms from Johannesburg and is about a 4 hour drive. Sun City is located approximately 1½ hours from the Lodge. Transfer services can be arranged and include a personalized meet and greet service at O.R. Tambo International Airport or hotel and the services of an English speaking driver or language guide if required.

 

Helicopter transfers can also be arranged should this be a requirement.
