This private lodge is situated in Madikwe Game Reserve, North West Province, about 4 hours’ drive from Johannesburg.
ACCOMMODATION
The finest safari accommodation is presented at the ultra-luxurious Morukuru Owner’s House which is reserved on an exclusive use basis, inclusive of all meals, beverages and activities. To ensure the most ultimate safari experience, Morukuru will provide a private butler, chef, game drive vehicle, guide and much more.
Owner’s House accommodates 4 guests in two spacious, beautifully appointed en-suite king sized bedrooms.
Even though this is a two bedroom house it is a spacious riverside bush home with a library, top of the range digital audio-visual equipment, a prestigious wine cellar and many luxurious spaces. The outdoor space is impressive with a pool, a romantic tree top sala, a boma for starlit dining and an outside bath for a romantic and tranquil bathing experience.

The very stylish center of the Owners House includes an elegant dining room, a plush lounge and a fully equipped private kitchen from where all catering is done and to which the guests are welcomed to a constant supply of snacks, teas and coffees.
While the location is completely private, Owner’s House is within walking distance from River House, ideal should you wish to book both houses for a larger party that requires a combination of shared gatherings with maximum privacy.
FOOD AND WINES
The chefs at Owner’s House are meticulously trained and can provide a wide array of catering options from traditional, formal and nouvelle cuisine to utterly relaxed and casual snacks on demand and everything in between.
Guests are also able to personally select wines from the wine cellar to accompany and compliment meals.
CHILDREN
Morukuru Family is extremely child friendly and welcomes children of all ages. Children are allowed on game drives throughout the Madikwe Game Reserve and are able to enjoy every magical aspect of being on safari with their parents. Children will receive a Morukuru Kidz Backpack filled with Safari treasures. The services of a Nanny is offered for those parents that wish to have a little time to themselves allowing them to relax knowing their children are being cared for. Children are kept busy with baking, kiddie-adventures, swimming, fishing and much more. Morukuru ensures that outdoors activities for children are safe and supervised by qualified and experienced rangers at all times.
ACTIVITIES
Morukuru is dedicated to present guests with a memorable safari experience and all activities are geared around guest’s specific requirements. .
Game Drives
Game drives are accompanied by a skilled ranger and tracker and guests can expect to encounter a diverse range of animal and bird species on game drives. This pristine wildlife area is home to the Big Five, endangered Wild Dogs, 350 bird and various animal species. A variety of snacks and beverages are offered on all game drives. As the only guests on the vehicle, game drives are tailored to your preferences. Morukuru game drives are the ultimate safari adventure.
Bush Walks
Bush walks are presented in a wilderness area where Africa’s Big Five and predators roam free. Guests are accompanied by a personal fully armed ranger and an experienced tracker. Children under the age of 16 unfortunately may not participate in bush walks and for those over the age of 60 a doctor’s certificate is require of good health. Bush walks are limited to a maximum of eight people.
Bird Watching
Madikwe Game Reserve is home to more than 350 species of birds, including many interesting raptors. Game drives are certainly enriched when guests show a keen interest and appreciation in the birdlife. Guests can enjoy bird watching at the Morukuru bird hide.
Morukuru hide
A sleepover at the hide, surrounded by wildlife, is ideal for a romantic evening with a partner or for family members and friends. The Morukuru hide is set next to the water’s edge and is protected by an electric fence.
Fishing Safaris
Morukuru overlooks the Marico River, and many different species of fish are found, including Yellowfish, Catfish, Bream, Eel, Papermouth, Three Spot Tilapia and Carp.
Local Dancers
The patter of feet, clapping of hands and the joyous dance movements executed with grace and joy by our local dancers is a captivating sight. The dancers are selected from the nearby Molatedi Village.
Massages
Guests can give in to total indulgence and relaxation with one of the Morukuru Massages in the Sala Area, overlooking the water. Morukuru carefully selected Africology as the product line used throughout Spa Treatments. Massages can be enjoyed within your personal villa, be it the sala overlooking the Marico River, the deck of your room or by the pool.
LOCATION
Morukuru Owner’s House, Madikwe Game Reserve, is accessible either by road or by air and is approximately 4 hour’s drive from Johannesburg. Helicopter transfers could also be arranged should this be a requirement.
