Located within the Southern Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Lion Sands Game Reserve is the only Reserve in South Africa to offer a safari in both the Sabie and Sand River ecosystems. The Reserve is family owned and managed by the 4th generation More Family. There is a unique programme of activities for guests to tailor-make their stay including the famous Chalkley & Kingston Treehouse experiences.

Lions Sands presents two luxury private safari lodges in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, namely River Lodge and Ivory Lodge.

ACCOMMODATION IVORY LODGE

Ivory Lodge presents six luxurious private safari Villas. The Villas comprise of spacious luxurious bedrooms, open plan en-suite bathroom with an enclosure for the outdoor shower, living room and heated swimming pool. Guests can enjoy breath-taking views of the Sabie River from the comfort of their villa and private decks.

Ivory Lodge accommodates 12 guests in complete luxury and guests can look forward to experience a tailored safari experience.

CHALKLEY’S AND KINGSTON TREEHOUSES

For an ultimate safari experience, guests at River Lodge can overnight at Chalkley’s and Kingston Treehouses. Guests have to book a Treehouse stay in conjunction with accommodation at River Lodge. All of the Treehouses are securely constructed high above ground, where animals will remain at a safe distance.

Chalkley’s Treehouse

Arrive at dusk to a romantic picnic dinner by candle light. Chalkley’s Treehouse offers 5-star comforts, completely secure and boasts a full en-suite bathroom. The treehouse provides exceptional safari accommodation with a full en-suite bathroom, draped mosquito netting, bedside table, bush vanity table and a toilet. Chalkley’s Treehouse accommodates two guests.

Kingston Treehouse

For an extreme safari experience guests at Kingston Treehouse can enjoy wildlife sightings, star gazing and romantic dinners under the African Skies.

With ever-changing views, Kingston Treehouse is constructed of glass and wood. This Treehouse is completely open to the elements while still being protective. Kingston Treehouse luxurious setting accommodates 4 guests in comfort with a full bathroom and shower facilities. Accommodation at Kingston Treehouse includes a Gourmet Basket Dinner, all beverages, teas, coffees and snacks.

CHILDREN

Lion Sands Ivory Lodge welcomes children over the age of 10 year.

DINING

Tailor made gourmet meals are prepared and served on a wooden viewing deck. Fine meals are served indoors or outdoors at the boma under the stars.

WILDLIFE, BIRDLIFE & NATURE

Sabi Sands Game Reserve is situated adjacent to the Kruger National Park and is set in Africa’s most pristine Big Five territory and enjoys one of the highest and most bio-diverse wildlife populations in Africa.

Sabi Sand Game Reserve is renowned for frequent viewing of the most elusive of predators, the leopard. Guest to Sabi Sand Reserve enjoys close contact sightings with Africa’s Big Five, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, to name but just a few.

The Sabi Sand Game Reserve Animal and Plant Checklist, features more than 145 mammal species, 500 bird species, 30 amphibian species, 110 reptile species, 330 tree species and 45 fish species.

The preserved plains of the Sabi Sands and the Kruger National Park hold some of the highest concentrations of game. This, coupled with ethical and responsible conservation management, have resulted in animals which are highly habituated to human presence. Safari Game viewing vehicles pose no threat to animals, and guests are able to get really close to countless animals.

Lion Sands Sabi Sand is located in a low risk malaria area and we suggest you discuss this with your health practitioner before travelling.

LOCATION & ACCESS

Lion Sands Sabi Sand Ivory Lodge is located in the Southern Sabi Sand Game Reserve and an easy 5 hour’s drive from Johannesburg.

Daily scheduled flights are available between Cape Town, Johannesburg and Skukuza Airport.

Private charter flights are possible from any location directly into Lion Sands Sabi Sand.
