Cheetah Plains Private Game Reserve is situated in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, which is part of the Greater Kruger National Park.
Cheetah Plains offers an exclusive safari experience and luxury accommodation in the Big 5 Sabi Sands Game Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger National Park.
It is a luxurious family friendly lodge and guests can look forward to enjoy superb luxury accommodation and an unforgettable safari experience.
Bushbuck roam among the chalets and often at night guests could hear Lion and Hyaena calling out across the bushveld.
Cheetah Plains is one of the oldest bush camps in the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve, where the emphasis is on offering guests a traditional Safari experience, fantastic accommodation and scrumptious meals prepared around the campfire.
Excellent game viewing and the friendly attentive staff at the lodge will round your safari off.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation at Cheetah Plains Private Game Reserve consist of eight luxury thatched chalets and a bush cottage.
Standard Chalets:
2 x Standard Chalets with double beds, en suite bathroom (shower only), air-conditioning, overhead fan & mosquito net.
4 x Standard Chalets with twin beds, bathroom (shower only), air-conditioning, overhead fan & mosquito net.
Luxury Chalets:
2 x Luxury Chalets with queen beds, bathroom (bath & outside shower), air-conditioning, overhead fan & mosquito net.
Luxury Bush Cottage:
1 x Luxury Bush Cottage with 2 x bedrooms (1 x king bed 1 x twin), inside bath & shower, Lounge, air-conditioning, overhead fan, mosquito nets. The Bush cottage requires a minimum of 3 guests of which 2 must be adults.

DINING
Scrumptious dinners are served in the dining room, or under the African sky around a roaring fire in the traditional boma. The buffet style dining embraces the peaceful ambiance of the lodge, and makes the most of delicious local fare, giving guests a real taste of South African cuisine. A private dining deck offers a secluded nook for those who would like to enjoy an intimate dinner.

Specialized birding safaris
Cheetah Plains is delighted to introduce specialized birding safaris. With the assistance of Cheetah Plains Private Game Reserve guides, birding safaris will be hosted and guided by a specialist African birder and ornithologist.
These safaris will aim to identify as many species as possible while also allowing participants a better understanding into the ecology of local-occurring birds. WILDLIFE, BIRDLIFE & NATURE

Renowned for Africa’s Big 5, the Sabi Sand Game Reserve is home to some of the most exceptional wildlife in Southern Africa, amongst other leopard, hyena, cheetah, hippopotamus, impala, lions, jackals, zebras, giraffes, elephants, kudu and much more.
330 tree, 45 fish, 30 amphibian, 110 reptile, 500 bird and 145 mammal species have been recorded in Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Visitors to the area are often given a rare glimpse of rarely encountered species like, Honey Badgers and the endangered Southern Ground Hornbill and African Wild Dogs.

The Sabi Sand Game Reserve is situated in a malaria area. Please consult your General Practitioner for advice on precautionary medication before travelling.
LOCATION & ACCESS
Cheetah Plains is easily accessible by both road and air.
Cheetah Plains is a 6 hour’s drive from Johannesburg. Please enquire for driving directions.
Cheetah Plains can facilitate road transfers from Hoedspruit Airport or Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport at additional costs.
Direct flights from Johannesburg arrive daily, and scheduled flight to Hoedspruit Airport operate daily.

NB: Self-drive Guests:
It is not possible to cross directly from the Kruger National Park to the Sabi Sand Reserve. Guests will have to exit the applicable gate & enter the Sabi Sands at the Gowrie Gate. Cheetah Plains is only accessible via the Gowrie Gate. Once guests reach Acornhoek, the estimated travel time to Gowrie Gate is approximately 1h30 depending on the condition of the road. We advise that guests reach the lodge prior to sunset. Afternoon game drives depart between 15h00 - 16h00.
