The lodge is located in a Private Nature Reserve, set in a gorge of the Steenkampsberg Mountains along Schoemanskloof in the Mpumalanga escarpment.

ACCOMMODATION

Forest Creek Lodge presents a selection of accommodation offering luxury lodge suites or self-catering cottages. Lodge Suites are not adjoined to the main lodge, requiring a short walk to the communal lodge areas.

Included in the lodge suite rates is a 4-course dinner and breakfast. Self-catering guests are welcome to book meals at the lodge, along with activities available.

LODGE SUITES

This magnificent lodge-under-thatch has been constructed with views of the gorge and the surrounding cliffs and mountain. Standard in the luxury suites is crisp white pure cotton linen, electric blankets, heaters, percale cotton duvets & DSTV. For guests that are allergic to down feathers, fibre duvets and pillows can be supplied.

Narina Luxury Suite is set in a secluded spot in the bush away from the main lodge and is totally private. This suite has a queen sized 4-poster bed, private veranda, outdoor stone shower and a ball & claw bath tub set in the bay window looking into the bush.

Cinnamon Luxury Suite, set in a secluded spot in the bush away from the main lodge and is totally private. This suite has a queen sized 4-poster bed, private veranda, outdoor stone shower, ball and claw bath tub set in the bay window looking into the bush.

Swainson Luxury Suite, a romantic suite with a queen size bed, big corner bath with shower, fan, electric blanket, heater and DSTV. This room can be converted to accommodate 2 children, with the addition of bunk beds in the lounge area.

Carmine Luxury Suite is a spacious suite, presenting a fireplace, king sized extra length bed, his and her outdoor stone showers, veranda, a huge bath tub for two with romantic candles.

Tambourine Luxury Suite has a queen size bed, en suite bathroom, big corner bath with shower and outdoor stone shower with views of the mountains.

SELF CATERING OPTIONS

Self catering cottages comprise of a fully equipped kitchen with a gas braai on the deck and a built in braai for outdoor cooking, fans, electric blankets, heaters, percale cotton duvets and linen. If you are allergic to down feathers, fibre duvets and pillows can be supplied. The units are serviced daily.

Self catering guests are welcome to book any meals and activities at the lodge.

The Beach Cottage has stunning views of the Mountains. It comprises a fully equipped kitchen with gas braai on the deck and a built in braai for outdoor cooking, queen sized bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a huge deck for outdoor entertainment.

Forest Cottage is a totally private, cosy wooden cottage and situated half a kilometer away from the main lodge area, next to the indigenous forest and near a stream with stunning views of the mountains. The cottage has a fireplace in the lounge/dining room and is fully equipped with a large outside braai area.

The cottage comprises one queen bedroom en-suite (bath and toilet, with the shower over the bath), another small bedroom with bunk beds and a double sleeper couch in the lounge.

This cottage is perfect for couples with children or a romantic getaway as the bathroom is open-plan romantic style.

Bee Eater Cottage is the ultimate in luxury and out-door living. The unit is fully equipped with a Braai, Fridge, Microwave oven, gas 2 plate stove, fireplace & DSTV.

The room has a King sized extra length bed, his and her outdoor stone shower, huge bath tub for two with romantic candles, veranda and a private garden.

Sunbird Cottage has two bedrooms, one bedroom with a queen sized bed en-suite bathroom, the second bedroom with a King sized bed, or can be converted to 2 x single beds. Additional beds can be arranged for children. The unit comes with a fully equipped kitchen with a gas braai and Webber braai for outdoor cooking.

WEDDINGS

Forest Creek is the perfect venue for small intimate weddings, accommodating up to 14 guests. Weddings take place outside under the Gazebo. All the food and beverages, accommodation, and decor for the function will be facilitated.

CUISINE

Dine on a four-course d'hôte dinner served in a candle-light dining room. Forest Creek offers a choice of five-breakfast menus and a small menu for lunch. Weather permitting, meals can be prepared on the braai and for those who wish to hike, lunch packs are available. Special dietary requirements could be catered for per arrangement. Weather permitting, guests could enjoy meals and drinks outside on the veranda overlooking the valley.

ACTIVITIES

Hiking & Forest Creek Trails

One of the unique activities at Forest Creek are the Hiking Trails in the “Cloud Forest”. The trails are designed for the entire family, and are most suitable for the even not-so-fit person. Marked trails meander through the forest.

The walk to the waterfall is approximately 2 kilometres, winding through the forest and criss-crossing the stream in several places under the canopy of large indigenous trees. One is likely to hear the baboons barking and spot the odd bush buck or red duiker and see the Cinnamon Doves, Narina Trogons and Louries that frequent the forest. In the wetter months the ferns, orchids and wild mushrooms offer spectacular opportunities for the more photographic inclined. A tree platform built in a large fig tree above the forest canopy, is an ideal stop for birders or to just relax and enjoy a picnic!

Birding

A prolific variety of uncommon species of Birds can be seen, including a resident pair of Black Eagles.

Gazebo romantic private dinner - A private candle light dinner under the gazebo. Many a proposal of marriage has been accepted in this lovely setting.
Hikers picnic - A picnic packed in a rucksack, get ready to hike to the waterfall.
Lazy picnic - A picnic set out for you in a private spot, with champagne, a good one for the romantic at heart.
Horse riding - 4km down the hill, book a ride in the scenic valley.

LOCATION & ACCESS

Forest Creek Lodge is approximately 60 kilometers from Dullstroom and a mere 130 kilometers from the Kruger National Park.

Situated on the R36 near the Kwena Dam, but as the crow flies Dullstroom is the closest town. Do not take the Belfast / Dullstroom turn off, please proceed to the Machododorp Toll Plaza, 2 km's after the Plaza turn left onto the R36 Schoemanskloof Bypass Road.

Please note that the last 4 km's of dirt road require a high clearance vehicle, however, management can collect you at the bottom of the hill and leave your vehicle in a safe place. Transfer costs per trip costs R75 per vehicle.

There is a private Airstrip 8 km from the farm and transfers from the Airstrip to Forest Creek Lodge could be arranged.
