Tshwene Lodge, a luxury game lodge in Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, offers exciting safari game viewing including the Big 5, in a malaria free environment. This small luxurious safari lodge is easily accessible and a mere 3 hour’s drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Named after the Chacma baboon, Tshwene Lodge is surrounded by magnificent rock outcrops and a secluded oasis in the rugged valley of the Taaibos River. Welgevonden Game Reserve boasts all of Africa’s Big 5 mammals in abundance as well as cheetah, brown hyena, honey badger, to name but just a few.

Tshwene Lodge’s sister lodge, Ekuthuleni, is situated in close proximity, each lodge being able to accommodate a maximum of ten guests, accommodating a maximum of 20 guests in both lodges.

Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, one of the top wildlife destinations in South Africa, is located near Vaalwater (Mabatlane) in Limpopo Province and is an easy 3 hours by road from Johannesburg.

ACCOMMODATION

Tshwene is an intimate and peaceful game lodge, ideal for guests seeking a romantic and private bush escape. Five beautiful appointed luxurious suites all offer exhilarating views of the valleys below and the hills beyond.

Relax in the comfort of a luxurious double room with en-suite bathroom, an indoor and private outdoor shower, as well as a secluded entertainment area which provides breathtaking views of the African bush. Listen to the calls of a passing herd of elephant from private wooden decks, or watch the African sun sets over the horizon.

Indulge yourself with the ultimate romantic experience in the Honeymoon suite, sip wine in front of a cozy fire place or relax in a private Jacuzzi.

LODGE FACILITIES

The main facilities include the two lounges, swimming pool, indoor and outdoor dining areas set on a huge wooden patio with magnificent views of the reserve.

DINING

All meals are prepared by the local Chef for a Delicious culinary experience.

CHILDREN

Children over 10 years of age are welcome at Tshwene Lodge. Please note that the rooms have balconies and that the lodge and swimming pool are both unfenced. Children must be supervised at all times.

ACTIVITIES

Two daily game drives are conducted by experienced rangers who will provide details of the abundant flora and fauna, of which many species are unique to the Waterberg.

WILDLIFE & BIRDLIFE

The Waterberg region offers a variety of habitats, riverine scrub, woodland, grassland and fertile valleys. Welgevonden Reserve boasts all of Africa’s famous Big 5 and more than 129 mammals, 350 birds and various plant species can be found within these habitats.

LOCATION & ACCESS

Tshwene is a three hour drive from Johannesburg. As no private vehicles are allowed in the reserve, guests will be picked up from the Welgevonden main gate.

There are no scheduled road or air transfers/charters to Tshwene Lodge, however it can be arranged on request. There are 2 runways and a helicopter landing pad in the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve.
