Kaingo Game Reserve, situated in the Waterberg, is an authentic bushveld retreat offering an exclusive and personal safari experience.
Kaingo, an authentic Game Reserve in Limpopo Province, is situated along the banks of the Mokolo River in the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve. This beautiful game reserve offers a truly unique combination of excellent wildlife viewing in unsurpassed scenery and is an ideal location to experience a safari in South Africa.
The Reserve is easily accessible and approximately three hour’s drive from OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg or Pretoria.
Kaingo offers exclusive and personal safari experiences for both local and international travellers.
ACCOMMODATION
Kaingo’s 12 authentic safari rooms can accommodate 24 people. Each air-conditioned room is equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, an electronic safe, a mini bar fridge and hairdryer. The rooms also offer a choice of satellite television channels.
Accommodation options at Elephant Lodge includes Leopard House. This unit is ideal for families or those seeking added privacy. It has two en-suite bedrooms together with a lounge and dining area with walls adorned with original works of art. A private outside patio area features a plunge pool, thatched lapa and fire pit area where meals and quality time can be enjoyed in privacy, if so preferred.
Elephant Lodge Suites:
The 12 suites are set in a large natural garden that blends into the surrounding bush veld savanna landscape. The garden paths connect the suites to each other and the main lodge area.
Each en-suite room has an African wildlife theme and can accommodate two people, in either a double or twin beds dressed in white linen and African throws. There’s air conditioning for summer and heated under-blankets to keep the cold at bay on winter nights. Everything and more than you’d expect in a luxury safari lodge including a well-stocked minibar, Nespresso coffee machine and lock-up safe. Earthy colours, leather and dark wood finishes give the suites an understated elegance.
For families there are side by side interleading en-suite rooms for a memorable holiday.
Leopard House:
Leopard House is ideal for families or those seeking added privacy and exclusivity. It has two en-suite bedrooms, together with a lounge and dining area, and walls adorned with original works of art. A private outside patio area features a plunge pool, thatched lapa and fire pit area where meals and quality time can be enjoyed in privacy, if so preferred. Everything you’d expect in a luxury safari house is here. Earthy colours, leather and dark wood finishes give this unit a nostalgic air.
ACTIVITIES
This beautiful game reserve offers nature based activities such as birding, boating, elephant tracking, fishing, game drives, hiking, star gazing, rock art tours, picnicking, swimming, botanical walks and drives.
Highly qualified guides have extensive experience in Big 5 reserves and will ensure that your safari experience is unsurpassed.
CUISINE
A choice of English or Continental Breakfast is available daily, light meals are served all day, and scrumptious dinners offer a wide variety of meals from exotic game meats, roasts, barbecues, stir-fries, Indian cuisine, or vegetarian dishes. Guests are welcome to enjoy a casual meal on the deck,
pool side, or in your room.
The wine and beverage selection offers the best from South African wine estates, or one can enjoy freshly ground coffees, hot chocolate or a cappuccino at the coffee bar.
CONFERENCES
Kaingo is conveniently located for conferences near Gauteng, ensuring its popularity not only as a conference venue, but also as an ideal incentive group destination.

The conference facility caters for conferences up to 12 guests and offers total exclusivity for any conference or meeting.
CHILDREN
Children are welcome at Kaingo and a range of activities have been specially designed around their needs, allowing you to spend quality time with your family, while we take care of everything.
Please note that children under the age of six years of age will not be permitted on a standard game drive. A separate, shorter duration game drive for children under the age of six years of age can be arranged, out of standard game drive viewing times.
WILDLIFE, BIRDLIFE & FLORA
The reserve boasts a large variety of sought after game including leopard, lion, hyena, elephant and buffalo, while other naturally occurring wildlife species such as giraffe, kudu, zebra, wildebeest and impala roam the open plains.
There are a host of other wildlife, many of which are to be seen at night, with honey badger, aardvark, pangolin, caracal, and porcupine often spotted on a regular basis.
Crocodile and the occasional hippo frequent the river and the dam, which also are home to a variety of fresh water fish including kurper, barb, yellow-fish, catfish, tilapia and bass.
Birdlife is prolific and the Reserve is a bird watcher’s paradise with a variety of eagles, nightjars, sunbirds, flycatchers, bee-eaters, shrikes, starling, hoopoe, kingfishers, storks amongst other. There is a rare opportunity of spotting the elusive Narina Trogon, Osprey and nesting Black Storks.
The Reserve is extremely rich in history, with many San and Pedi (Northern Sotho) rock art sites dating
back to the dawn of man.
Kaingo has created various Botanical Routes, where guests can either walk or be driven, by an experienced field guide, to view some of the magnificent floral species that are found in the Reserve.
The Waterberg, or Thaba Metsi in siPedi (the local Northern Sotho dialect), is a mountainous massif of approximately 14,500 square kilometer's situated in the northern Limpopo Province, South Africa, and is the first region in the northern part of South Africa to be named as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
The ecosystem can be characterised as a dry deciduous forest or Bushveld. Within the Waterberg there are archaeological finds dating to the Stone Age.
LOCATION & ACCESS
The Reserve is easily accessible and approximately three hour’s drive from OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg or Pretoria. It is less than an hour’s flight to a fully fenced grassed airstrip.
