With a scenic view over the Phalala River, this malaria free 5 star lodge is known for its mouth-watering cuisine and friendly service. Guests can partake in safari game viewing and a wide range of activities at the lodge and nearby areas.

It is ideally situated for a weekend breakaway, located about two and a half hours by road, north of Johannesburg, in the Waterberg region of Limpopo Province near Naboomspruit (Mookgopong).

The main lodge rooms are close to the high tea lounge area, reception, restaurant and executive boardroom. Ground floor rooms has a view underneath a canopy of trees and privacy. First floor rooms has a view of the Phalala River valley.

4 Luxury Tented Suites

The luxury tented suites are surrounded by beautiful trees and have scenic views, overlooking the pools and rapids of the Phalala River. Children over 12 years of age are welcome at the tented suites.

SELF CATERING OPTIONS

3 River Chalets

Witwater Safari Lodge self-catering chalets has views and are serviced twice daily. All are equipped with a stove, microwave, fridge, coffee station and all cutlery and crockery that can cater for up to six guests.

Each chalet has its own braai area (outside barbeque area), breakfast deck, lapa, kitchen, living area and pool.

These units are excellent for those who want to be alone with nature, with the option to enjoy a meal in the main lodge’s restaurant.

Chalet guests are also welcome to all facilities at the main lodge.

Try your hand at fly fishing (Green Fishing) in the Phalala River or Jonkmanspruit (Tag and Release, Equipment Hire available). Please enquire and make prior arrangements.

WILDLIFE, BIRDLIFE & NATURE

There are a variety of animal species including Kudu, Duiker, Steenbok, Giraffe, Impala, Zebra, Eland, Warthog, Hippo, Crocodile, Cheetah, elusive Leopard and many smaller mammal species.

More than 350 species recorded.

Nature

The area has a rich variety of plant life with more than 2015 plant species occurring in the Waterberg region, including about 130 tree species.

Many shrub, grasses and fern species are amongst the wonderful flora of this Bushveld region.

The Phalala river which flows past Witwater Safari Lodge, hosts about 34 indigenous species of fish (2 are on the red data list)

The wildlife in the Waterberg is bountiful and includes numerous insect species, more than 130 butterfly species and many reptile species, like the endemic girdled lizard.
