Marataba Safari Lodge, an exquisite luxury lodge is in a private concession in the Big 5, Marakele National Park, within the Waterberg region of Limpopo Province.

This unique and exclusive use private concession area is home to a wide range of wildlife including the sought after Big 5 mammals, as well as prolific birdlife. The Kransberg Mountain range is a majestic backdrop in an area that provides awesome African scenery, with raw natural beauty.

The malaria free Marataba is a superb luxury bushveld hideaway where excellent service and luxury is a priority in a spectacular location.

It is about 4 hours by road from Johannesburg.

ACCOMMODATION MARATABA SAFARI LODGE

Accommodation at Marataba Safari Lodge consists of 15 luxury Tented Suites and is tastefully furnished and decorated. The interior is ample, and the attention to detail impeccable. The Tented Suites accommodates up to 30 guests.

Marataba Walking Trails

A number of Trails are available, including Riverine, Gorge, Mountain and Interest Trails.

Morning and afternoon trails depart from the camp each day, with the option of enjoying a full-day hike and picnic in winter. There is a variety of trails, from trekking over the top of the Kransberg Mountain range, to traversing through gorges, and the excitement of these trails lie in the fact that there is always the chance of encountering an array of wildlife and birdlife.

Marataba Trails Lodge offers luxury accommodation and adventurous walking trails amongst the Big Five.

WILDLIFE, BIRDLIFE & NATURE

Marataba Safari Lodge is located within the Marakele National Park, home to Africa’s Big Five.

The Park is home to all the large mammals in South Africa, from elephant and rhino to the big cats. The birdlife is abundant and includes the largest colony of endangered Cape Vultures in the world, with more than 800 breeding pairs that have settled here.

Some of the unique plant species that could be seen are cycads of more than 5 metres, tree ferns and rare finds of cedar and yellow-wood trees.

NATURAL AND CULTURAL HISTORY

The Waterberg Region of Limpopo is a true natural wonder with its rich biodiversity and features ancient mountains, thousands-year-old rock art and a site of critical archaeological and paleontological importance.

An easy 4 hour drive from Johannesburg. Road transfers can be arranged by Marataba.
Private charter flights from any location directly into Marataba. Private airstrip is located 25 minutes from the Lodge.
