This beautiful luxurious lodge is set in a remote part of the northern region in the Kruger National Park between the Limpopo and the Luvuvhu Rivers.

The Outpost is situated in the Makuleke Contractual Park, inside the Kruger National Park, close to Pafuri and Punda Maria. It is a vast and remote wilderness area, bordered to the north by the Limpopo River and Zimbabwe and to the east by Crooks Corner and Mozambique.

The Makuleke Region falls in the epicentre of the Great Limpopo Park, which comprises Kruger National Park, the Gaza National Park in Mozambique and the Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe.

Sharing a border with Zimbabwe and Mozambique, this Park is the ancestral home of the Makuleke people and is arguably the most diverse and scenically attractive area in all of Kruger National Park.

ACCOMMODATION

Luxury Suites:

The Outpost accommodates 24 guests in 11 Luxury Suites and 1 Honeymoon Suite, linked to the central area by a Zimbabwean Teak walkway.

The luxury suites have been expertly designed, making full use of space, with state-of the art retractable remote controlled screens, offering guests 180-degrees of spectacular views over the Luvuvhu River Valley.

Each room extends into a comfortable lounge and outdoor terrace with a double daybed. The bathroom with a stone bath and open shower boasts magnificent views extending as far as Mozambique.

The Outpost Honeymoon Suite is located at the highest point of the Lodge with breath-taking panoramic views.

Pel's Post:

Pel’s Post is The Outpost’s new exclusive use, satellite lodge. With only 4 suites accommodating a maximum of 8 guests, it is ideal for small groups and families looking to indulge in their own private bush hideaway. Explore this mystical area known as the Eden of Kruger with the luxury of your own private vehicle and guide.

CHILDREN

The Outpost Lodge welcomes children over the age of 10. The suites are open air with open balconies and the lodge and swimming pool are both unfenced and for their own safety children must be supervised at all times.

FOOD & WINE

The Outpost Lodge offers various dining areas. Breakfast and lunch is served in the dining area in the main building with views of the Luvuvhu River Valley. Lunch may be served as a picnic out on safari, under Baobabs or on the river banks. Dinner is enjoyed either in the enclosed courtyard under the stars or on the deck next to the pool.

Despite its wild and remote location, The Outpost strives to provide excellent cuisine. The large wine cellar is separated from the main dining area by a glass partition. It is stocked with superb South African wines, including some remarkable Sauvignon Blanc produced by the Outpost Lodge owner.

ACTIVITIES AT THE OUTPOST LODGE

Situated in one of the most pristine wilderness areas in the Kruger National Park, the Outpost offers excellent guided safari game drives and outstanding walking safaris.

Safari Game Drives

Safari game drives are conducted by qualified and experienced Field Guides in open safari vehicles. Guests are taken on game drives in the early morning and again in the late afternoon which may extend into the early evening.

Bush Walks

Bush Walks are conducted as an alternative to game drives. These walks are the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with wildlife and nature.

Walking Safaris

Walking Safaris are conducted over 3 nights or longer if required. Participants can expect to receive personal attention from highly qualified guides and only a maximum of 4 guests are allowed. The region is home to a wide variety of animals including the larger and potentially dangerous Big Five. These Walking Safaris also caters for special interest groups, such as botany or birds, and are conducted in areas carefully chosen to capture the diversity of topography, habitat and wildlife.

Private Safaris is the perfect opportunity to explore this pristine wilderness area not accessible to vehicles. Lanner Gorge is certainly the ultimate for bird spotting and great for enthusiastic photographers.

WILDLIFE, BIRDLIFE & NATURE

The Makuleke Contractual Park is set inside the northern Kruger National Park and is home to the Big 5 mammals of Africa. It is also well known for its abundant wildlife including less common species not evident in the southern and central regions of the Kruger Park. The diverse terrain of the region includes Mopane Woodlands, Fever Tree forests, Acacia thickets as well as some of the largest and oldest Baobab specimens.

Apart from large herds of elephant and buffalo, guests will be able to see Nyala, an antelope which is not easily found in the more southern regions of the park.

Birdlife is abundant in this area of the northern Kruger Park which is a sought after destination for birders, with over 350 recorded bird species.
