AmaKhosi Safari Lodge, in Amakhosi Private Game Reserve, offers luxury accommodation in the heart of northern Zululand on the banks of the Mkuze River, near the town of Pongola in KwaZulu-Natal. This luxurious game lodge gives a new meaning to a royal safari experience and exceptional hospitality.

Expert Field Guides are on hand to conduct dawn and dusk safari game drives and as this is Big 5 territory, guests can look forward to these exciting game-viewing opportunities.

River Suites

Six luxurious river suites capture nature through ceiling-high windows and private viewing decks across the river. Each suite accommodates two adults with an air conditioned lounge, bedroom, bathroom with a bath for two, separate shower and toilet, safe, bath robes, fully stocked mini-bar and a tea and coffee tray.

Honeymoon Suites

Two honeymoon suites.
High thatched ceilings, glass walls, and open-plan design with spacious deck, private bubble pool and hammock.

LODGE FACILITIES

The main lodge is a luxurious composition of decks with an intimate bar, swimming pool with poolside loungers, library, curio shop, dining room, inside & outside lounge, satellite television and conference facilities for 16 delegates.

CHILDREN POLICY

Children of all ages are welcome, however children under 8 years old are not allowed on game drives unless prior arrangement is made and a private vehicle is booked at an additional cost.

CUISINE

Guests can look forward to the scrumptious bush dinners or traditional “braai “evenings.

WILDLIFE, BIRDLIFE & FLORA

This Private Game Reserve is located in a blend of savannah, wetlands and mountains and host to Africa’s Big 5. Cheetah as well as 15 species of antelope and over 420 species of birds could been seen along with an interesting variety of frogs.

LOCATION & ACCESS

AmaKhosi Safari Lodge is approximately 5½ hour’s drive from Johannesburg & 4 hour’s drive from Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. St. Lucia Wetlands and Sodwana Bay are approximately 2 ½ hours drive from the lodge and are well worth incorporating into your itinerary. Mozambique and Swaziland is also in close proximity.
