Lions Valley Lodge is situated 3 hours from Durban and approximately 4 hours drive from Johannesburg.

Lions Valley Lodge presents exclusive, freestanding luxury thatched suites, offering maximum privacy and boast all of the luxuries you’d expect from a 5-star lodge.

Guests are able to relax on their private patio with panoramic views of the game reserve and watering hole, which makes early morning coffee at your suite particularly enjoyable.

The decor of each of the 10 spacious suites follow a special individual theme and all are designed with areas for extensive relaxation.

Dining at Lions Valley Lodge is a culinary adventure, combining regional African cuisine with the multitude of cooking styles. Evenings at Lions Valley Lodge revolve around a magnificent fire pit known as the boma, an experience that is reminiscent of the traditional African lifestyle.

As one of the few private game reserves in KwaZulu-Natal to feature all of the “Big Five”, Nambiti Private Game Reserve is the ideal location for an authentic African safari experience. With the guidance of expert rangers, guests’ wildlife encounters are guaranteed to be memorable.

This region is steeped in history and is particularly well known for the Battle of Elandslaagte which was fought on the Reserve during the Anglo Boer War.

Guests to Lions Valley Lodge enjoy informative early morning and late afternoon game viewing safaris, accompanied by experienced game rangers. The reserve is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife. During this time, you’ll be served a variety of delectable snacks and refreshments.

CHILDREN POLICY

For safety reasons Lions Valley Lodge does not allow children under the age of 8 years. The lodge is not fenced and in a “Big Five” reserve, children are to be accompanied by an adult at all times. This is particularly important when on game drives, in the boma or dining room and while making use of the swimming pool and surrounds.

A maximum of two children can be accommodated in a suite sharing with their parents on a double sleeper couch.

The lodge staff reserve the right not to permit children on game drives if they feel that this could be to the detriment of other guests.

Lion Valley Lodge tailors each wedding package to suit your needs, ensuring a unique experience. Staff will ensure that no effort will be spared in making your wedding day a memory to be cherished. You and your guests will have the complete disposal of this luxurious, 5-star lodge and all of its amenities.

However, you will need to book exclusive use of the lodge. This entails booking out all ten of our magnificent suites for a minimum of two nights. Due to the logistics of escorting guests to our lodge, Lions Valley Lodge can only accommodate a maximum of 20 adults and 5 children.

The specially designed Romance Suite is the ultimate indulgence for newly weds. Tucked away behind the surrounding trees and bushes, honeymooners can enjoy the utmost privacy of their outdoor deck whilst taking in the view of the gorgeous valley beneath them. The staff will endeavour to make your honeymoon a truly luxurious and unforgettable experience.

CONFERENCES

Lions Valley Lodge offers a unique setting for small conference groups and high-level corporate or team-building getaways accommodating 20 delegates in boardroom-style seating. The conference facility is well-equipped and includes all the necessary amenities to ensure that your conference is a productive and memorable one.

Conference delegates are offered teas, coffees and refreshments during the conference. All other conveniences such as welcome drinks on arrival, meals and game drives are also available.

WILDLIFE, BIRDLIFE & HISTORY

Lions Valley Lodge is a private game reserve situated on 21,000 acres of the Nambiti Conservancy and is one of a limited number of game reserves in KwaZulu-Natal that offers guests the chance to see Africa’s Big 5.

This is a malaria-free bushveld area with mixed vegetation of savannah grasslands and home to the Big Five as well as a large variety of antelope, smaller game species and an abundant birdlife.

The reserve offers a wide variety of antelope including giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippo, jackal, warthog, smaller predators such as hyenas, cheetahs and other members of the feline family as well as various reptiles and a myriad of insects.

More than 200 bird species have been identified here and some that are of interest are the White-backed Vulture, Red-billed Oxpecker, Black Stork and Spotted Eagle-owl, while the reserve’s many dams attracts birds such as the Spoonbill, Fish Eagle, Spurwing Goose and African Darter.

LOCATION & ACCESS

Lions Valley Lodge. located in Nambiti Private Game Reserve, is near Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, 4 hours from Johannesburg and 3 ¼ hours drive from Durban. It is ideally situated between Johannesburg and Durban. The Ladysmith Airport is only 30 minutes away and the lodge have an unregistered airfield on the reserve. From Ladysmith it is only a 40 minute drive to the Drakensberg.
